Letter: Survival needs a helping hand

Last week, as late as 11 a.m., it was still only 27 degrees. The birds are fighting for their lives out there, and I am fighting along side them. Both hummingbird feeders are in play now — as one freezes I put the other one out, and when that one freezes I put the thawed-out one back out and on and on. This way the birds will have their food and they can survive this frozen landscape.
