Montana pulls away from St. Martin’s 73-57

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Jordan Gregory scored 16 points to lead Montana to the 73-57 victory of Division II Saint Martin’s Sunday night.

Montana (3-4) ripped off a 20-4 run, capped by Michael Weisner 3-pointer, to open the game. Saint Martin’s trimmed the lead slightly, going into halftime trailing 36-23.

The Saints continued to chip away at the deficit, and Lucas Shannon converted a layup with 8:13 left to cut the lead to 54-46 with 8:13 remaining.

However, the Grizzlies responded with a 5-0 run, and Saint Martin’s never got any closer.

Montana did most of its damage from the free-throw line, converting 31 of 39 attempts. Saint Martin’s was 12 of 14.

Weisner, Kareem Jamar and Keron DeShields all finished with 13 points for the Grizzlies.

Tyler Copp paced the Saints with 18 points. Will Bond scored 10 points, and Shannon finished with nine.
