Six people, including four children, were hospitalized Monday afternoon after a “high speed rear-end collision” in Battle Ground, police said.

A westbound Toyota FJ Cruiser reared-ended a GMC Yukon near Southeast Eaton Boulevard and South Grace Boulevard, according to Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy, spokesman for Clark County Fire & Rescue. The crash was reported at 3:44 p.m.

During the accident, the Cruiser crumpled the Yukon so badly that it reached the back row of seats, where two children were sitting. Nobody, however, was seriously injured in the crash. He said all four children riding in the Yukon were using child car seats, and he credited their minor injuries to being properly restrained. They were transported to a local hospital, along with the woman driving the Yukon, and the man driving the Cruiser.

Dawdy described the weather in Battle Ground as extremely foggy.

The Battle Ground Police Department is investigating the collision. Names were not released.
