2 pedestrians hit on Portland streets

PORTLAND — A woman was struck by a vehicle on a southwest Portland street Tuesday night in the second pedestrian accident of the day in the city.

Police say the 31-year-old was taken to a hospital with traumatic injuries. The driver is a 64-year-old woman who remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators. Police say she was not impaired by drugs or alcohol.

On Tuesday afternoon a woman walking her dog was struck and killed in an intersection in northeast Portland. The woman, who was in her 50s, died at the scene. The dog was not hurt.

Police say the 80-year-old driver cooperated with investigators and did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol.
