FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Santonio Holmes says he would be willing to take a pay cut to remain with the New York Jets after this season.

The mercurial wide receiver who restructured his contract last offseason is likely to be cut because of his hefty salary that includes a salary cap number of $10.75 million. Holmes is scheduled to make $8.25 million in base pay, plus another $2.5 million in bonuses.

When asked Wednesday if he’d be open to having his salary cut, Holmes responded: “Anything for the team.”

Holmes, who has dealt with foot and hamstring injuries the past two seasons, says he’d like to finish his career playing for Rex Ryan, who’s on the hot seat after the Jets clinched a third straight non-playoff season.
