Gifford Pinchot roads closing for winter



Several major roads in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest have been closed and gated to accommodate winter recreation or protect wildlife.

Road No. 25, a major north-south route from the upper North Fork of the Lewis River to Randle, is closed on the south at the junction with road No. 93 and on the north at the junction with road No. 99.

Road No. 99, which leads to Windy Ridge Viewpoint, is gated closed at the junction with road No. 25.

State Highway 504 is gated closed at Hummocks trailhead, road No. 83 is gated just beyond Marble Mountain Sno-Park, road No. 26 is gated at Ryan Lake.

Skate Creek road No. 52 at the north end of the forest also is closed.

Skamania County will plow the Wind River Highway to Lone Butte Sno-Park including Koshko and McClellan Meadows sno-parks and the Old Man Pass sledding area.

Skamania County will plow the road until its funding runs out, then will plow no farther north than Carson National Fish Hatchery.
