Icy roads caused a few hiccups for Thursday morning commuters, but for the most part road conditions remained clear.

Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency received reports of 21 auto accidents taking place between 5 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., but few included injury or blocked traffic.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said major thoroughfares through Clark County remained relatively clear on Thursday morning, but ice was prevalent on many of the side roads in the region. The most affected areas appeared to be in the north and west parts of the county.

Green Mountain, La Center and Vancouver school districts responded to the ice by delaying school two hours.

This morning’s icy conditions may serve as a test run for many drivers heading into Friday. The National Weather Service is currently monitoring a weather system that could potentially bring snow into the county tonight or Friday morning.

“It does look like a rain and snow mix is heading in,” said meteorologist Beth Burgess. “But it depends how long that’s going to last. We will have a completely updated forecast package out at 3 p.m. and advise folks to check it often and before traveling.
