TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Defensive lineman D.J. Pettway is returning to Alabama 10 months after he was dismissed from the Crimson Tide.

Alabama announced Friday that Pettway and fellow East Mississippi Community College defensive lineman Jarran Reed signed with the Tide and will enroll in January.

Pettway and three other Alabama players were dismissed in February after being charged in alleged robberies in Tuscaloosa. Pettway was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery but a judge cleared him to play in Mississippi.

He played for Alabama in 2011 and 2012. University spokeswoman Deborah Lane says the charges “are no longer pending.” She says Alabama granted Pettway’s petition to enroll again and said he has requirements he must fulfill to remain.

Pettway was a junior college All-American after recording 11.5 sacks and 47 tackles.
