Fire damaged a house Saturday in the Harney Heights neighborhood of Vancouver.

The fire was reported at 8:17 p.m. at 4202 E. 15th St. A caller reported smoke in the house and heat coming through the closed door of a garage that had been converted to a room.

Crews from the Vancouver Fire Department found smoke and heat coming from behind the door and ran a hose through the house to extinguish the fire.

Damage was limited to the room where the fire started, though there was some smoke smell in the rest of the house.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The house is owned by Andrea Hernandez.
