HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) — Tyler White knocked down a 3-point shot with 30 seconds remaining as Northern Kentucky held off Navy 72-65 on Saturday.

Worth Smith hit a 3 with 1:08 to play to pull Navy (5-5) within 66-65 but after a timeout White responded for the Norse (4-7). After a Smith miss, Northern Kentucky secured the game at the foul line, starting with a pair of free throws from Todd Johnson at 17 seconds to make it 71-65.

Johnson and Jalen Billups led Northern Kentucky with 16 points apiece with Billups grabbing 11 rebounds. White and Jordan Jackson each had 10.

Navy was led by Brandon Venturini with 20 points, Smith added 15 and Kendall Knorr 13.

Venturini and Knorr combined for Navy’s first 18 points as the Midshipmen took a 29-23 lead at the half. Knorr had his 13 points at 6:45, making it 23-14 but the Norse blanked him from there.
