Hartford handles St. Peter’s 66-56

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Mark Nwakamma scored 15 points and gathered seven rebounds to lead Hartford over St. Peter’s 66-56 on Sunday.

Hartford (4-8) shot 50 percent from the floor, including 7 of 17 (41 percent) from beyond the arc. Yolonzo Moore II added 13 points for the Hawks and Taylor Dawson chipped in with 11 points, going 3 for 5 on 3-pointers.

St. Peter’s (3-6) had three players in double-figures, with Marvin Dominique and Desi Washington posting 11 apiece and Trevis Wyche adding 10. Dominique pulled down 14 rebounds.

The Peacocks scored the final seven points of the first half to lead 25-20 at the intermission and was up by eight at 41-33 on Wyche’s jumper with 11:18 left. But Hartford went on a 10-0 run — including treys by Taylor Dyson and Wes Cole — to take the lead at the 8:40 mark at 43-41 and the Hawks never trailed again.
