GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) — Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton has been arrested at a Dallas-area bar and charged with assault and public intoxication.
Grapevine police Sgt. Robert Eberling says Melton was arrested at 1:45 a.m. CST on Sunday at Chill Sports Bar after becoming belligerent and refusing to leave. Melton was freed after posting $1,000 bond on the assault charge and $210 on the public intoxication count.
Melton allegedly struck a male bar employee, but the man wasn’t seriously hurt. A message left with the bar wasn’t immediately returned.
Melton is a former Texas standout who’s from Grapevine. He’s out for the season after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament Sept. 22 against Pittsburgh.
Melton’s agent, Jordan Woy, didn’t immediately return a message for comment.
