Watt likely to have plastic surgery to repair nose

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston’s J.J. Watt is known for his ferocious play and hard hits as one of the top defensive ends in the league.

Watt’s penchant for violent collisions resulted in a deep gash on the bridge of his nose which required six stitches in Week 4 this season. Each time he’s played since, the wound has been reopened, resulting in a permanent — and ugly — mark on his face.

Now that the season is winding down, last season’s Defensive Player of the Year tells The Associated Press he’ll look into having plastic surgery in the offseason to repair the injury. He’s considering the procedure mostly at the prodding of his mother.

He says of his mother Connie Watt: “She hates it. My mom doesn’t like it all, so she’s hoping I get it fixed this offseason.”
