Holiday tournaments might not have the high stakes of the postseason, but they can have the same excitement.

The Skyview boys survived a nail-biter Thursday, beating Madison 61-60 at the Barlow Trail Basketball Tournament in Gresham, Ore.

With the game tied, Skyview’s Dylan King was fouled while driving to the hoop with one second remaining.

King made the first, then missed the second.

Madison grabbed the rebound and immediately called a timeout. That set up a half-court shot that hit off the front rim.

“I was sure it was going in,” Skyview coach Matt Gruhler said.

Ben Spies had 18 points to lead three Skyview scorers in double figures. Marcus Lord had 16 points and King had 10.

Point guard Tyler Hoffman had eight assists and no turnovers.

Aubrey Stephens scored 25 points to lead Madison, a Portland school.

Skyview advances to play Barlow in the semifinals today at 7 p.m.
