ASHVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Jaron Lane notched a season-high 24 points in helping UNC-Ashville blow by UNC-Wilmington 75-61 in a non-conference game on Saturday.

Andrew Rowsey added 15 points and D.J. Cunningham pulled in 16 rebounds for UNC-Ashville.

The Bulldogs (5-7) had lost 11 straight games to NC-Wilmington (6-8) dating back to 1975, but led at the break 45-29 after having built a 20 point lead earlier in the period. UNC-Ashville shot 62 percent from the field in the first half.

The Bulldogs were never threatened in the second half and ended the game cooling off to a respectable 50 percent shooting margin, while UNC Wilmington was held to just 34 percent from the field.

Freddie Jackson and Cedrick Williams scored 15 points each for the Seahawks, who have lost three straight and will travel to Chapel Hill on New Year’s Eve to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.
