LOS ANGELES (AP) — Xavier Henry strained his knee in the first quarter of the Lakers’ game against Philadelphia on Sunday night, leaving Los Angeles without yet another ball-handling guard.

Henry didn’t return to the game after playing 412 scoreless minutes. He will have an MRI exam Monday.

Henry filled in as the Lakers’ point guard while their top three point guards and Kobe Bryant were sidelined with injuries in recent weeks. He returned to his role as a swingman and backup point guard when Jordan Farmar recently got healthy.

Henry is off to a strong start to his first season with Los Angeles, averaging 10.4 points and 2.8 rebounds.

Kendall Marshall, who has barely played since arriving from the D-League earlier this month, took over as Farmar’s backup.
