Youngstown State cruises past South Dakota 85-59

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Kamren Belin scored 21 points and gathered seven rebounds to lead Youngstown State over South Dakota 85-59 on Sunday.

Youngstown State (9-6) got 17 points from Kendrick Perry and Bobby Hain chipped in with 10 points as the Penguins combined to shoot 42 percent (10 of 24) from beyond the arc.

South Dakota (3-9) was led by Trey Norris’ 16 points. Tyler Flack added 13 points and Adam Thoseby had 11.

Youngstown State completely dominated the first half of the game running up a 53-18 advantage, as Belin scored 13 of his 21 before the break and Perry 16 of his 17points. South Dakota made just seven field goals on 26 shots before intermission, including just 2 of 9 on 3-pointers.

The Coyotes were able to have some success in the second half, outscoring Youngstown State 41-32, though the Penguins played backups extensively.
