Holiday closures

What’s open and what’s closed for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day:

o MAIL: Post offices open Tuesday, but most close at noon. Actual hours will be posted. The postal unit at the Shell gas station, 1605 N.W. Sixth Ave., Camas, is open 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day of the year. Mail left in blue collection boxes may be collected early Tuesday; those with a normal afternoon pickup may have a final collection at noon. There will be regular home delivery Tuesday. Post offices closed Wednesday. Only priority mail delivered on Wednesday.

o GARBAGE: Regular service Tuesday. Trash and recyclables normally picked up on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday by Waste Connections in Vancouver and most of Clark County will be picked up one day late. Friday’s normal collection will be picked up Saturday. In Camas, Wednesday’s trash and recyclables will be picked up Thursday with Thursday’s regular collections.

o PUBLIC LIBRARIES: Fort Vancouver Regional Library open until 6 p.m. Tuesday, closed Wednesday. Camas Public Library open Tuesday, closed Wednesday.

o CLARK PUBLIC UTILITIES: Offices open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, closed Wednesday. For 24-hour customer service, call 360-992-3000. To report outages or emergencies, call 360-992-8000.

o GOVERNMENT OFFICES: Open Tuesday, closed Wednesday.

o PARKING METERS: On-street parking in Vancouver is free Wednesday.

o BUSES: C-Tran follows regular schedule Tuesday, and Sunday/holiday schedule on Wednesday. TriMet buses follows regular schedule Tuesday. MAX follows extra late-night service Tuesday. On Wednesday, TriMet buses and MAX follow the Sunday schedule.

o DRIVER’S LICENSING: Offices open Tuesday, closed Wednesday.

o EMISSIONS TESTING: Open Tuesday, closed Wednesday.

o VEHICLE LICENSING: Open Tuesday, closed Wednesday.

o BANKS: Many close early Tuesday. Check your bank for details. Closed Wednesday.

o ZOO: Oregon Zoo open Tuesday and Wednesday.

o MARSHALL COMMUNITY CENTER: Open 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, closed Wednesday.

o FIRSTENBURG COMMUNITY CENTER: Open 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, closed Wednesday.

o WESTFIELD VANCOUVER MALL: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

o THE COLUMBIAN: Offices open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, closed Wednesday. Circulation customer service open 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, and 4:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
