Boys basketball: King’s Way Christian 48, Woodland 43

The Knights earned a trip to Forks by beating the Beavers to grab sixth place in the final 1A Trico League standings.

King’s Way (7-13, 7-11) will visit Forks on Monday, with the winner earning a spot in the District 4 tournament. Forks is the No. 3 seed from the Evergreen Conference.

Woodland (12-8, 11-7) finished fourth in the Trico League and should host Elma or Rochester in a winner-to-district game on Monday.

Jay Becker shook off the flu to score 15 points for King’s Way Christian. The Knights led by eight points after outscoring the Beavers 17-10 in the third quarter. Woodland crept within one possession of the lead several times in the fourth quarter, but the Knights made enough free throws to hold onto the lead.

Tanner Huddleston, Kyle Hendryx and Troy Flanagan scored 11 points apiece for Woodland.
