The NW Association for Blind Athletes held its 2013 Benefit Dinner & Auction on Saturday at Pearson Air Museum.

The dinner and auction, titled "Going The Distance," is the association's largest fundraising event.

Preliminary estimates are that the association received $30,000 in cash donations Saturday.

The Vancouver-based group works to provide opportunities through sport and physical activity to the blind and visually disabled.

It offers programs in more than 10 sports, and works with schools, communities and other programs to train staff in how to adapt sports for people who have visual impairments and their sighted friends and families.

The group also hosts sporting events across the Northwest and provide scholarships.
