JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Brett Comer, Sherwood Brown and Bernard Thompson combined for 59 points as Florida Gulf Coast earned its fourth straight victory, an 81-78 win over Atlantic Sun Conference foe Jacksonville.

Comer scored 21, Brown 20 and Thompson 18 for the Eagles (16-8, 8-3), who set a program record for wins in a season as a Division I team and swept the season series with Jacksonville for the second straight year. The four-game, in-conference win streak is Florida Gulf Coast’s longest as an A-Sun member. The team is averaging 84.8 points during that span.

The Eagles and Dolphins (12-12, 7-4) were part of a four-way tie with Mercer and South Carolina-Upstate atop the A-Sun standings entering Saturday.

Russell Powell’s two free throws cut the Eagles’ lead to 79-78 with 1:16 left, but the Dolphins missed two field goals and two free throws in the final minute.

Jacksonville’s Jarvis Haywood had 16 points.
