Germany wins another Nordic combined team event



KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) — World Cup leader Eric Frenzel led Germany to its second straight victory in the Nordic combined World Cup team event Sunday.

The German team of Manuel Faisst, Johannes Rydzek, Bjoern Kirscheisen and Frenzel won the team 4×5-kilometer race in 51 minutes, 23. 3 seconds at a cross-country course at the RusSki jumping center, where the Sochi Olympics ski jumping events will be held.

The French team of Sebastien Lacroix, Francois Braud, Maxime Laheurte and Jason Lamy Chappuis finished 2.7 seconds behind for second. Austria’s Bernhard Gruber, Tomaz Druml, Lukas Klapffer and Wilhelm Denifl were third.

Germany led after the jumping leg, followed by France and Austria.

Germany also won a team 2×7.5K sprint Jan. 13 in Chaux-Neuve, France.
