Liberty holds off Radford 75-70 for Big South win

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — John Caleb Sanders scored 19 points for Liberty in a 75-70, Big South Conference win over Radford on Tuesday night.

R.J. Price’s two free throws pulled Radford (10-14, 4-6) within 72-70 with 26 seconds left, but the Highlanders missed their final three shots and Liberty made 3 of 4 foul shots in the remaining seconds.

Tavares Speaks added 16 points for the Flames (8-16, 4-6), while Devon Marshall — averaging 22.5 points over Liberty’s past two home games — added 11 points. J.R. Coronado pulled down 11 rebounds.

Javonte Green led Radford with 23 points and 13 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. Price added 13 points on 5-of-16 shooting while committing five turnovers.

Liberty, scoring 66 points per game on the season, is averaging 78.2 points in its past four home games.

Radford, 13th nationally with 9.3 steals per game, had just five swipes Tuesday.
