When the Good Family Orphanage in Odessa, Ukraine, reached out to the Jewish Business Network of Clark County for help with dental care, committed JBN member Lynn Miller knew just whom to call.

Dentist Constant Lu flew with Miller to Odessa on Jan. 24. Many of the children in the orphanage had never seen a dentist before, and were in dire need.

Lu is back now, but two Israeli students who assisted him want to provide follow-up treatment through a university dental school nearby. Lu wants to establish a regular program there to provide for the children.

The Jewish Business Network is hosting a gala and raffle called “A Day of Hope” to benefit the orphanage, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Dinner, drinks and entertainment by magician and mentalist Oz Pearlman and cellist Gideon Freudmann are on tap. Tickets are $75.
