KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Shayne Whittington scored 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, and Western Michigan scored the final seven points of the game to secure its seventh straight victory, 82-76 over Kent State on Wednesday night.

David Brown added 22 points off the bench, including two free throws with 1:41 left that turned out to be the game-winning points, for the Broncos (15-7, 7-2 Mid-American), and Nate Hutcheson scored 15.

Chris Evans had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Flashes (12-11, 3-6), who went ahead 76-75 on Kris Brewer’s 3-pointer with 1:59 to play. But Brown’s free throws put Western Michigan ahead to stay before Whittington and Brandon Pokley combined to make five foul shots in the final minute to seal the win.

Kent State led the entire first half en route to a 38-32 halftime advantage, but the Broncos rallied to take several small leads in the second half.
