Brown, Florida Gulf Coast rout ETSU 67-43

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Sherwood Brown scored a game-high 17 points to lead Florida Gulf Coast over East Tennessee State 67-43 Thursday night in an Atlantic Sun Conference contest.

Brown also grabbed five boards to become the first Florida Gulf Coast player to total 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Eric McKnight had 13 points and Chase Fieler added 12 to help Florida Gulf Coast (17-8, 9-3) win its fifth straight game and clinch a berth in the A-Sun tournament.

Ahead 33-21 at halftime, Brown’s basket 30 seconds after the intermission sparked a 21-10 run for the Eagles, capped by Brett Comer’s layup to make it 54-31 with 9:03 remaining.

East Tennessee State (7-18, 5-7) shot just 21.2 percent (7 of 33) in the second half and only 22.7 percent (15 of 66) for the game.

Jarvis Jones scored 12 points to lead the Buccaneers, who have now lost three of their last four games.
