LIU Brooklyn pulls away from Cent. Conn. St. 81-75

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Jamal Olasewere scored 25 points with 14 rebounds as LIU Brooklyn pulled away from Central Connecticut State 81-75 Thursday night in Northeast Conference action.

Olasewere had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the first half to secure his eighth double-double of the season.

Coming off a 60-57 loss to Robert Morris that snapped their six-game winning streak, the Blackbirds (12-11, 7-4), scored the first eight points. After CCSU pulled ahead 15-13, the game stayed close and LIU Brooklyn led 32-30 at halftime.

Tied at 51 with 12:38 left, the Blackbirds surged ahead on an 11-3 run.

C.J. Garner scored 17 points, Brandon Thompson 14 and E.J. Reed 10 for LIU Brooklyn. Jason Brickman had 12 assists.

Matt Hunter had 25 points and 11 boards and conference scoring leader Kyle Vinales (21.6 points per game) contributed 13 points on 5-of-18 shooting for CCSU (10-12, 6-5), whose three-game winning streak ended.
