Ireen Wust wins 1,500-meter World Cup race

INZELL, Germany (AP) — Olympic champion Ireen Wust of the Netherlands won the 1,500-meter race at a speedskating World Cup event on Saturday.

Wust clocked 1 minute, 55.95 seconds, while teammate Diane Valkenburg was 0.47 seconds behind. Yekaterina Shikhova of Russia was third.

Marrit Leenstra of the Netherlands finished sixth to take over the lead in World Cup standings in the discipline.

Previous leader Christine Nesbitt of Canada skipped the event.
