ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) — Travis Bader scored 31 points, making 9 of 16 from 3-point range, and Oakland won its fifth game in a row by defeating South Dakota State 88-83 on Saturday.

The game was a matchup of the two players with the highest point totals in a game this season. Nate Wolters of South Dakota State, who had 53 points on Thursday night at IPFW, scored 36 against Oakland on Saturday but it wasn’t enough as the Jackrabbits’ eight-game winning streak ended.

The Golden Grizzlies (13-13, 8-4) knocked South Dakota State (19-7, 10-3) out of a first-place tie with idle Western Illinois in the Summit League.

Wolters’ performance Thursday surpassed Bader’s 47-point effort against IUPUI on Jan. 24, when Bader had a school-record 11 3-pointers.

Duke Mondy scored 26 for Oakland, which shot 59 percent in the second half and 49 percent for the game. Chad White had 21 points for the Jackrabbits.
