THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Brandon Fortenberry scored 30 points to equal his career high and led Southeastern Louisiana to a 73-62 victory over Nicholls State Saturday in Southland Conference play.

The Lions (9-12, 7-4) raced to a 38-22 halftime lead over the Colonels (6-15, 5-6) and were never seriously threatened.

Fortenberry, who set his career high nearly two years ago to the day, made 10 of 17 shots overall from the floor. He hit 5 of 8 3-point attempts and all five of his free throws. The five treys also tied his career best.

In the second half, Nicholls State twice cut the lead to six points. But each time Fortenberry responded with a 3-pointer.

Fred Hunter led the Colonels with 20 points. Dantrell Thomas chipped in with 15 and Amin Torres came off the bench to score 13 points.

For Southeastern Louisiana, Dre Evans scored 12 points and Roosevelt Johnson added 10.
