ATLANTA (AP) — Rafriel Guthrie came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points and Towson topped Georgia State 90-82 in overtime Saturday.

The Tigers (14-12, 9-4 Colonial Athletic Association) had four starters in double figures. But Towson’s defense against Georgia State’s R.J. Hunter was key.

In the previous two games, Hunter hit 16 treys: a CAA record-tying 10 against Old Dominion, then 6 of 7 at UNC Wilmington. But Hunter was 1 of 9 on treys Saturday, 3 of 16 overall. He scored 15 points.

After Manny Atkins (career-high 26 points) scored seven straight points for the Panthers (12-14, 7-6), Devonta White (22) hit two free throws with a second left for a 77-77 tie and overtime.

Guthrie scored the first basket in overtime and Towson’s last four points.

For Towson, Jerome Hairston scored 17 points, while Marcus Damas and Bilal Dixon had 14 each. Mike Burwell added 12.
