LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Bryant Mbamalu scored 24 points, leading six Louisiana-Lafayette players in double figures, and the Ragin’ Cajuns routed Louisiana-Monroe 90-66 Sunday night.
Louisiana-Lafayette (9-16, 5-9 Sun Belt) never trailed, but it was mostly a close game until the Ragin’ Cajuns went on a 24-0 run in a 6-minute stretch midway through the second half to lead 78-50.
Elfrid Payton had 15 points, seven assists and four steals for the winners. Alan-Michael Thompson scored 12 points, Shawn Long had 11 points and 11 rebounds, Elridge Moore scored 11 points and Steven Wronkoski scored 10 for Louisiana-Lafayette.
Trent Mackey led the Warhawks (3-16, 2-11) with 20 points. Amos Olatayo added 15 points but Louisiana-Monroe lost for the ninth time in a row.
