Rider has big 2nd half to beat Saint Peter’s 72-57

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) — Anthony Myles scored 17 points and Rider took control early in the second half to defeat Saint Peter’s 72-57 Thursday night and sweep the season series.

Tied at 31 at intermission, the Peacocks took a 37-33 lead early in the second half.

The Broncs (14-13, 9-6 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) then went on a 23-7 run for a 12-point advantage with 9:51 left. Tucker Markese’s back-to-back jumpers trimmed the deficit to eight, but Rider responded with a 12-3 spurt to pull away.

Rider outshot Saint Peter’s 59.1 percent (26 of 44) to 45.8 percent (22 of 48) and hit 10 of 21 from long range compared to 5 of 12 for the Peacocks.

Zedrick Sadler added 16 points, Jonathon Thompson 14 and Daniel Stewart grabbed 14 rebounds as the Broncs dominated the glass 32-21.

Yvon Raymond’s nine points led Saint Peter’s, which also lost to Rider 66-54 on Jan. 17.
