Roberts, Georgia Southern trounce Citadel 78-57

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Cleon Roberts scored 20 points, and Georgia Southern led by 18 points at halftime and rolled past The Citadel 78-57 in a Southern Conference game on Thursday night.

Eric Ferguson had 14 points, Brian Holmes 11 and C.J. Reed 10 for the Eagles (11-15, 5-8), who snapped a two-game losing streak. Georgia Southern avenged a 70-55 loss to The Citadel on Jan. 19, which snapped the Bulldogs’ 12-game losing streak.

P.J. Horgan had 19 points and eight rebounds, and Marshall Harris III scored 10 points for the Bulldogs (6-18, 3-11), who have lost three in a row after a two-game winning streak.

Georgia Southern shot 29 of 55 from the field and 12 of 22 on 3-pointers. The Citadel shot 21 of 53 and 3 of 16.

The Eagles led 47-29 at halftime and opened the second half with an 18-4 spurt for a 65-33 advantage.
