Letter: Guns don’t belong in public places

The Feb. 11 Columbian story reported “Capitol friendly to gun rights: Olympia building is one of a few in nation with no firearms restrictions.” As a retired military combat infantry officer, I am shocked that it is legal for people to carry weapons into the state Capitol building. There is no common sense being practiced here. Other than police officers, no one should be carrying weapons into public places. What are our lawmakers thinking? Or are they? I think we have elected people with no common sense, and we need to unelect these incumbents.
