Letter: Ramp up oversight of home-schools

The Columbian
Published: February 14, 2013, 4:00pm

Reported in the Feb. 9 Columbian story, “Child cruelty conviction: Jeffrey and Sandra Weller are found guilty of abusing their adopted twins.” As the issues of testing for graduation requirements are addressed, I am struck by what appear to be lack of concerns for improperly home-schooled children such as in the Wellers’ case. In our modern society, we need to find better ways to protect home-schooled children.
