The Parks Foundation of Clark County is accepting nominations for the Florence B. Wager awards through April 1. Established in 2011, the annual award recognizes three categories of leaders for outstanding contributions to local parks, trails, and recreation programs. Awards will be presented at the Parks Foundation’s annual meeting and luncheon on June 4 at the Hilton Vancouver Washington.

The three award categories are: the Leading Eagle, recognizing a community leader who has led initiatives and significantly impacted parks and recreation programs; the V-Formation Flyer, recognizing a spirited volunteer who goes above and beyond the norm; and the Tributary, recognizing a parks professional who is innovative in any number of ways.

Nominations packets are available at www.parksfoundation.us, or by calling 360-487-8370. The nomination deadline is April 1.

The awards honor Florence B. Wager, who died in August 2012 after years of parks boosterism and community service in Clark County. “Florence was a leader among leaders in our community,” said foundation executive director Cheri Martin. “She was a strong citizen advocate and a true champion of parks and recreation. It was her passion.”
