Fighter jet pilots to train at night
Saturday, February 16, 2013
The Oregon Air National Guard's 142nd Fighter Wing, based at the Portland Air Guard base at Portland International Airport, will be conducting F-15 flight training at night Tuesday through Feb. 22.
Most flights are expected be done before 11 p.m., according to a news release from the Oregon Military Department.
The missions allow the wing to keep up with mandatory Air Force requirements. Night flying allows pilots to use night vision goggles and practice nighttime maneuvers.
