Cash donations to Crestline Elementary School reached $45,000 this week, said Carol Fenstermacher, Evergreen Public Schools spokeswoman. The money is being used to equip the more than two dozen Crestline classrooms that lost everything when the school was destroyed by fire Feb. 3.

The fire displaced nearly 500 students, plus teachers and staff. Five other elementary schools in the district quickly made space for the Crestline students, teachers and staff, welcoming them to classrooms Feb. 7.

The district prefers that cash donations be sent to the Evergreen School District Foundation. Cash, checks, gift cards and supplies can be dropped off at the Evergreen School District, Burgundy Complex, 13501 N.E. 28th St., or mailed to ESD Foundation, Community Relations, P.O. Box 8910, Vancouver, 98668. Teachers have specifically requested gift cards from Amazon.com, Ikea and Learning Palace. Cash donations can be made at Evergreen School District Foundation. In the drop-down menu, choose Crestline. This is a secure website.
