Hoping to avoid facing the top-ranked team in the state, the Woodland girls rolled to a win in a district seeding game.

The Beavers’ reward for the win in Chehalis — a regional game against No. 1 Cascade Christian, which lost its seeding game on Saturday.

“That’s quite a prize for us,” Woodland coach Glen Flanagan said. “But we’ll be ready to them.”

Jessica Flanagan scored 10 of her 16 points in the first half, and Kendall Grell had eight of her 12 points as Woodland built a 34-16 halftime lead.

After Hoquiam rallied within six to open the fourth quarter, the Beavers finished off the win with McKenna Mulder scoring seven points in the final period. Woodland sealed the win by making 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch.

Flanagan also had seven assists and three steals. Sidra Malik had nine points, three assists and three steals for Woodland.
