JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — Harold Washington scored 16 points as Canisus took advantage of 17 Saint Peter’s turnovers and 27 personal fouls in a 68-59, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory Saturday.

The Golden Griffins (17-10, 10-6) went to the foul line 33 times, and though they only converted 57.6 percent, they still outscored the Peacocks 19-8 at the line.

Canisius scored 17 points off the Peacocks’ turnovers, which included four giveaways by Yvon Raymond.

Desi Washington led Saint Peter’s (8-18, 2-13) with 20 points on 6-of-17 shooting.

The Peacocks shot 30 percent (9 of 30) in the first half, including 2 of 11 from 3-point range, and trailed 30-22 at halftime. Saint Peter’s improved to 48.1-percent shooting (13 of 27) in the second half, including 5 of 12 from deep, and led 46-45 with 10:11 left.

Canisius responded with a 9-1 run, though, and Saint Peter’s never pulled closer than four after that.
