NEW YORK (AP) — Elghayoor won for the first time, holding off stablemate Railtown Girl by a half-length on Sunday in the $75,000 Dearly Precious Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct.
After twice finishing second in maiden races, Elghayoor smoothly handled the step up to a stakes with Eddie Castro aboard. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin enjoyed a 1-2 finish. His fillies were uncoupled in the betting.
The time was 1:13.17 for the six furlongs.
Elghayoor paid $7.30, $4.10 and $2.80 as the 5-2 second choice. Railtown Girl returned $5.70 and $3.50 while Kiss the Lady, the 2-1 favorite, paid $3 to show.
