JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israel Basketball Association says former Texas player Gary Johnson has been put in a medically induced coma after being hospitalized with head injuries.

IBA spokesman Hagai Segal says Johnson, who plays for Israeli team Hapoel Galil Elyon, is being treated for a fractured skull and doctors are checking for any other possible damage. Segal says Johnson’s condition is not life threatening and he will be woken up Wednesday.

Johndre Jefferson, who plays for Elitzur Ramla, tweeted Tuesday that Johnson was injured after Jefferson “accidentally elbowed” Johnson in the forehead and “cracked his skull.”

He tweeted that it is a “terrible feeling” to have been involved in the collision.
