I’m sure many readers were surprised to learn that you can take a gun into the state Capitol Building but not a sign.
Perhaps we need to rewrite the lyrics to one of Johnny Cash’s touching ballads to say, “Don’t take your signs to the Capitol son, leave your signs at home, Bill, don’t take your signs to the Capitol (but do bring your guns).”
We could also rephrase one of the most famous lines in all of cinema. In “The Godfather,” after whacking Gatto, Clemenza would say, “We’re going to Olympia. Leave the cannoli, take the gun.”
Finally, when someone with a sign is denied access to the Capitol they could lie prostrate on the floor, firmly grasp their sign and say “From my cold, dead …”
