HILLSBORO, Ore. — Technology company Oracle says it will use $1.4 million in loans from the state of Oregon to expand its Hillsboro facility.

Gov. John Kitzhaber’s office said today that Oracle will get the loans in exchange for creating 130 full-time jobs and retaining 300 positions over the next two years.

An Oracle vice president, Luke Kowalski, says the company will move production of data-center servers and storage systems from Mexico to Hillsboro.

Kitzhaber praised the company’s decision to keep jobs in Oregon rather than sending them overseas. He said the expansion is proof of Oregon’s competitiveness in the global market.

Oracle has five facilities in Oregon.
