MARANA, Ariz. (AP) — Three days after Tiger Woods played golf with President Barack Obama, his competition gets a little stiffer.

Woods opens the Match Play Championship on Wednesday against Charles Howell III, whom he last faced 16 years ago in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur. Woods is a three-time winner of this tournament, but he has not advanced beyond the second round since he won in 2008.
