Jacksonville St. nips Southeast Missouri St. 67-65

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Tarvin Gaines had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Brian Williams hit the final basket with 9 seconds left to lead Jacksonville State to a 67-65 victory over Southeast Missouri State in an Ohio Valley Conference game Wednesday.

Ronnie Boggs had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Darion Rackley had 11 points and Williams 10 for the Gamecocks (16-10, 8-7), who snapped a three-game losing streak in their final home game this season.

Jacksonville State led points off turnovers 14-3 and 22-12 in second-chance points.

Marland Smith scored 16 points, Corey Wilford had 15, Tyler Stone 11 and Nino Johnson scored 11 points with 12 rebounds for the Redhawks (14-14, 6-8), whose season-best three-game winning streak ended.

The Gamecocks trailed 36-28 at halftime and finally led 55-53 with 6:22 left.

The Redhawks scored eight straight points to tie at 65-65 with 41 seconds remaining before Williams’ basket at 0:09.
