WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Tony Johnson scored 20 points, hitting a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left to complete Lafayette’s comeback from a 13-point deficit, as the Leopards edged hot-shooting Holy Cross 79-76 Wednesday night.

Lafayette (14-14, 7-4 Patriot League), which also defeated the Crusaders 63-53 on Jan. 23, trailed 60-47.

After the Leopards tied it at 67, Holy Cross, which shot 67.4 percent for the game (29 of 43), answered with a 9-3 run. Johnson converted a three-point play, then Seth Hinrichs hit a 3-pointer, assisted by Johnson, to knot it 76-76 with 53 seconds left.

Johnson stole the ball from the Crusaders’ Dave Dudzinski, but Levi Giese’s layup was blocked by Jordan Stevens. Following Johnson’s 3, Holy Cross had two turnovers in the final 2 seconds.

Giese added 16 points, Dan Trist and Bryce Scott 13 each and Hinrichs 10.

Justin Burrell scored 19 and Cullen Hamilton 18 for the Crusaders (11-15, 3-8).
