Image — Nearly a ton and a half of electronics waste was diverted from the landfill and sent for recycling, thanks to the Clark County Skills Center’s Information Technology Systems program. Instructor Ira Erbs suggested the idea, and his students took it from there: they held a two-day E-Waste Recycling event at the Skills Center, 12200 N.E. 28th St., and collected 3,200 pounds of non-working computers, printers and peripherals. Cost Plus Auto Parts, Big Al’s, Billygan’s Roadhouse and Earth Friendly Recycling sponsored the event. Erbs hopes to make the event an annual one; meanwhile, the program is glad to accept donations of working computers and peripherals. Call Ray Nelson at 360-604-1050, ext. 2124.
