Georgia Southern rolls past Furman 78-61

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — C.J. Reed scored 14 points and three Georgia Southern players scored in double figures in a 78-61 rout against Furman on Saturday, snapping a two-game losing streak.

Cleon Roberts finished with 13 points, and Eric Ferguson and Tre Bussey each had 11 for the Eagles. Brian Holmes and Marvin Baynham scored nine apiece.

Georgia Southern (12-17, 6-10 Southern Conference) built an 11-point, first-half lead before Furman (6-21, 3-13) trimmed it to 30-27 at intermission. Furman took a 50-48 lead midway through the second half, but Georgia Southern used a 13-0 run to take the lead for good with a 61-50 advantage on a Baynham free throw.

Furman cut it to nine on two Bobby Austin free throws with 5:17 left, but did not score again until Bryant Irwin’s free throws at the 1:44 mark.

Colin Reddick led Furman with 22 points, while Austin had 13 and Irwin added 12.
